2012: The Year of the “Best Picture”

After completing the eight-year odyssey that was my 170 list, I’ve turned my sights to a new list: the Oscar Best Picture winners. To date, I’ve seen 65 of the 83 winners (and I’ve seen all Best Picture nominees since 1998).

As the 84th Academy Award nominations are to be announced later today (8:30am EST/5:30am PST), I’m turning my focus to these immortalized films and I’m giving myself until the 2013 Oscars to complete the list. That said, I’m declaring 2012 “The Year of the ‘Best Picture’.”

Here are the remaining 18 Best Picture winners I have left to watch:

  1. Agree about Titanic, but it may leave a slightly bad taste in your mouth. Maybe watch The Sting twice, once in order, once after Titanic – just as epic, way more fun.

Meanwhile, Gentleman’s Agreement is absolutely incredible (and started my long love of all things John Garfield). I own it on VHS and DVD. I’d love to hear your thoughts on that one!

    1. Thanks for your thoughts on these movies! I can’t wait to see them and I’m sure I’ll blog about some of these movies. I love VHS. 🙂 Some classics aren’t on DVD, so you have to stick to the old formats sometimes.

      1. I’m not a huge fan of the 3D craze but thanks for letting me know! I am really curious to hear what you think of it when you finally watch it!
